Welcome to my website! I am an Assistant Professor in Economic History at Utrecht University.

 

My expertise lies in Asian economic history, with a particular focus on South Asia during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. My ongoing research explores a range of topics including climate and agriculture, financial markets, law and institutional change, collective action and political representation, as well as health and living standards. Ultimately, my work seeks to explain the determinants of development in the developing world.
